Radon is a radioactive gas which can cause lung cancer. Under current Building Regulations every precaution should be taken to prevent this gas from entering all new homes. Radon Barrier covers the entire area of the floor of the house / building and around the general foundation and its main purpose is to stop the penetration of radon gas into the building.
Tradecraft recommends that all Radon Barrier installations are carried out by professional installers who will provide a certificate to confirm that the job is done properly. Gas can enter the building through the smallest gap in the radon barrier, therefore thorough installation of high quality and fully certified Radon Barrier is essential.
For a number of years now Tradecraft has supplied to the construction sector a range of product to service the technical requirements for the prevention and protection of all property affected by the ingress of Radon Gas.
In essence, three products are required to effectively and efficiently protect Homes / Workplaces / Schools / Hospitals and Long Stay Institutions from Radon Gas and these products MUST carry Irish Agrement Board Certification in order to comply with The Irish Building Regulations as per Technical Guidance Document C which came into force in 1998.

Whether a Non Reinforced or a Fully Reinforced Radon Barrier is used will depend upon the low or high Radon affected areas as per the Radon Map which can be found on the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland website.
